Colin is a fifth-year senior and novice coach here at George Mason. He debated for Smithville and Kingwood High Schools. While debating for Mason, Colin was a JV finalist at ADA Nationals his freshman year, a National Debate Tournament qualifier his third year, and a Cross Examination Debate Association National Championship octafinalist this past season.
Hannah Call is a Senior at George Mason University studying Psychology and one of the newest members of our coaching staff. She competed at both Liberty and George Mason and had success in all three levels of debate, including winning the American Debate Association tournament twice. Hannah will be leading the coaching of our novice squad this year, and is very excited to transition to a coaching role!
Alexander Woodward III
DM is a Master's student in the communication department at George Mason. He also graduated with a B.A. in History from Mason. While debating on the Mason Debate Team, DM reached elimination rounds at CEDA and also competed at the districts qualifying tournament.
Patrick is a Master's student in the communication department at George Mason. As an undergraduate debater pursuing a B.A. in political science from the University of Mary Washington, Patrick was half of the 5th ranked partnership in the nation and received multiple awards recognizing him as one of the top 10 individual debaters in country. Patrick also works as a communications consultant for one of the largest management consulting firms in the country.
Kyle Lastovica is an M.A. student in communications. He went to High School in Smithville, Texas and was the UIL state Champion. He is an alumni from Mason with a B.A. in Government and International Politics. During his undergrad career he was in the elimination rounds of most of the major tournaments and received a First Round bid to the 2015 NDT where he advanced to the Octafinals.
Peter Susko is a doctoral student in the Department of Communication at George Mason, where he also received his Masters. As a debater at the University of Mary Washington, Peter broke at every major national tournament. He was a semifinalist at the National Debate Tournament and a finalist at the American Debate Association tournament.
Jackie Poapst is serving in her first year as the Assistant Director of Mason Debate. She is in her final year of her doctoral program at George Mason University. Jackie is also the Director of the George Mason Debate Institute since 2015. Jackie debated for Liberty University from 2007 to 2011, was a three time elimination round participant at the Cross Examination Debate Association Nationals and semifinalist at the American Debate Association Nationals.
Dr. Warren Decker
Dr. Warren Decker has served as the Director of Debate at George Mason since its creation. He has constantly worked to push the GMU Debate Team to new heights. Warren earned his BA from Emporia State University, his MA from Southwest Missouri State University, and completed his Ph.D. at Temple University. Before coming to GMU, he taught at Wichita State University, Pennsylvania State University and Temple University. Warren has also served as a past president of the American Debate Association, and is considered an instrumental part of its creation.
